Colony; ii) wild life conservation, research and awareness activities on intertidal rocky shore fauna and flora of Visakhapatnam beach, Olive Ridley Sea Turtles , Snakes, Zoo animals; iii) brought awareness against the use of thin plastic carry bags; iv) conducted many seminars, workshops, exhibitions and rallies on environmental protection; v) organized teacher training workshops on marine and terrestrial biodiversity; vi) undertaking research surveys on butterflies and birds of Eastern Ghats in general and Visakhapatnam district in particular.
The Crown Project of the Society is the development and maintenance of a unique RCD Bio-diversity Park. The society adopted the premises of Rani Chandramani Devi Govt. Hospital, Visakhapatnam, on 5th June, 2002, and converted it into a unique Bio-Diversity Park. The park extends over an area of 3 acres. The Society maintained it for a period of 13 years and is now maintaining it, in collaboration with Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA).
Now this RCD Bio-Diversity Park has become a wonderful vibrant garden, with more than 2000 species of plants, teemed with 70 species of birds and 100 species of butterflies. The Park has become a centre of attraction for beauty and learning for hundreds of students right from L.K.G to P.G. of this city in particular and Andhra Pradesh in general. It is now recognized as the First Ex-situ Biodiversity Park of Andhra Pradesh, by the A.P. Biodiversity Board, Hyderabad, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. In fact it is a living laboratory for education, awareness and research for students and researchers. With the help of VUDA, it has started an information and training center for students and teachers to train about our bio-diversity.
