Youth unemployment is a subject that is on the tip of everyone’s tongue and it’s easy to see why. Over the next decade as many as 1 billion jobs will need to be created to meet demand in the labour market. Unfortunately if we keep going at the present rate we are going to fall way short and in the process many will be condemned to a lifetime of poverty. To open the doors to future prosperity something needs to change and it needs to change now!

The Be the Change Academy, as its name suggests, is part of that change. It takes Gandhi’s famous call to action “You have to Be the Change you want to see in the world!” and uses it to inspire young people to take their futures into their own hands and start creating jobs. This is something that traditional education models simply refuse to do. But the times are changing and education needs to catch up. The Be the Change model shows how this can be done.

Each BTCA runs youth-led free Business Plan creation training linked to a Revolving Loan Fund which can invest in the best Business Plans and make them happen!
