ABOUT THE CLINIC:
Sree Govindam CVN Kalari Chikilsa Kendram was established in Varkala in 2016 by Atthajan LJ (Unny). The clinic is dedicated to the memory of Govindan Kutty Nair Gurukkal founder of CVN Kalari in Trivandrum.

Unny became a student of Govindan Kutty Nair Gurukkal in 1988. Unny has studied Kalarippayat and Kalari Chikilsa under the CVN Kalari tradition and worked at CVN Kalari in Trivandrum and Karukachal Kottayam. He was also the Kalarippayat teacher at Vijnana Kala Vedi Cultural Centre.

The clinic is associated with CVN Kalari in Trivandrum and Sreeangom CVN Kalari Chikilsa Kendram in Karukachal Kottayam.

ABOUT KALARI CHIKILSA:
The tradition of Kalari chikilsa developed as a branch of Ayurvedic medicine also known as Marma chikilsa specialising in treatment of orthopaedic and neuromuscular injuries and identifying, diagnosing and treating injuries to the vital spots or Marmas.

With special therapies and practical methods of treatments different from the classical Ayurveda, Kalari chikilsa earned patronage of the common people and became an integral part of the practice of the art of Kalarippayat. In other words, Kalari chikilsa was the forerunner of the present day sports medicine with its base in Ayurveda the prestigious Indian science of medicine.

ABOUT THE CVN KALARI LINEAGE:
CVN Kalari Sangham was established by Sri C.V. Govindan Kutty Nair Gurukkal, following the lineage of Sri C.V. Narayanan Nair Gurukkal in the year 1956, coinciding with the formation of the state of Kerala. This pioneering institution was the first school to offer northern style Kalarippayat training in the southern part of Kerala. Over the past six decades, it has guided the evolution of traditional Kalarippayat, and pioneered many schools of thought and practices. CVN Kalari Sangham trains local and international students in a year-round programme. The centre also organizes performances and workshops in India and internationally.
