VNC has been working in the field of environment awareness and nature conservation, right from its inception from 1988. Within two decades of its existence VNC must have introduced thousands of young Indians to importance of environment protection. As a NGO VNC has been instrumental in taking up various environmental issues like pollution, tree felling, water conservation etc. through well trained network of volunteers. VNC is accredited NGO / NPO by GEF (Global Environmental Facility, Washington DC, USA), it has also received funding / support from GEA, (Global Environmental Actions, Tokyo Japan) VNC is recipient of grants from Rufford Foundation, UK & Idea Wild USA. VNC is registered as Public Charitable Trust in India and as a 501(c)(3) Charity in USA..
VNC's Activities can be broadly divided under three heads - Environment Education, Conservation & Research, Awareness & Advocacy.
