About FilMatrix in IIM Udaipur, Udaipur

We see loads of movies hitting theatres every year amusing us with their imagery, ideas, and execution. But ever wondered what makes a movie commercially successful?

Some may immediately think that high profitability is the answer to this question. However, money is not the cause, but an effect of synergy between advertising, publicity and promotional deals which is called Film Marketing. It’s time to put on your creative hats and come up with innovative marketing strategies of the given movies.

Round 1: (Online)

Teams will be given an upcoming movie by mail when they get registered for which they will be required to plan a PR stunt/controversy to create the hype for the movie.

Deliverables-
1) Storyboard/Script of the controversy
2) Explain your Target Group
3) Reach to your TG across channels (TV, Social Media etc.)
4) Projected timeline of the stunt/controversy

Round 2: (IIM Udaipur campus)

Shortlisted teams will be given a cult Bollywood movie that actually tanked at the box office when it was released. They will be required to prepare an IMC Plan for the same movie assuming it will be released in early 2017 and present it in the front of the judges.

Deliverables-
• STP in the current scenario
• IMC plan
• Reach and logic behind it

Rules and Regulations:
• All B-school students can participate
• This is a team event. A team should comprise of exactly 3 members
• All 3 members should be of the same college. A student can be part of only one team.
• There is no restriction on number of teams from a single college
• There is no registration fee
• All the submissions will be a property of the event organizing team. The decision of the organizing team shall be final in case of any dispute.
