About Zam Zam Dosa Hut in Near Zamzam Icefruits Mini, Trivandrum

An extension of the ZamZam fast-food chain, the Dosa Hut, as the name suggests is a miniature outdoor café that serves hot dosa with sambhar and chutney right from the stove.

Located at the Nanthancode road, adjacent to its parent outlet ZamZam, the Dosa Hut seems to be an experiment on its way to success. The chic board that says ‘The Dosa Hut- A low budget cafe’ beckons motorists who take the Nanthancode route to stop for a quick bite.

True to its label, the café serves food that is easy on the purse and the palate. One can order a ghee-roast for Rs.20, which comes with sambhar and two dips - coconut chutney and spicy onion chutney. One snag however is that if you want to order a juice, you must go to the main restaurant beside it.

The ambience of the Dosa Hut is that of a typical thattukada, except a little quieter since it is located in a residential area. Another setback is the limited space the café provides with just two tables and only a handful of chairs. If the idea was to step up a typical street café, then the tarpaulin could be replaced with a better temporary roof to give the place a bolder identity of its own.
