HISTORY:
Alagappanagar Panchayath Higher secondary School which belongs to Thrissur district, Amballur village, Mukundapuram taluk is located on the right side of the Amballur–Varantharappilly State Highway, opposite to Alagappa Textile Mills. It was established in 1952 by Dr.MRM Alagappa Chettiyar, as a Lower Primary School, mainly intended for the education of the children of
the employees in his mill. In 1957, it was upgraded as an Upper Primary School.
In 1964, the school was undertaken by Sri.Thyagaraja Chettiyar, and then the school came to be known as Thyagaraja Vidyalayam. In 1966, it was upgraded as High School. Even though the school was under the management of the mill for a long period, in 1972, when the mill was under taken by the government, the school was left under the control of government. Till 1990, the school was managed by Mukundapuram Tahasildar, Kodakara BDO, and Thrissur DEO. In 1990 with the undertaking of the school by Grama Panchayath, the school’s name was changed to ALAGAPPANAGAR PANCHAYATH HIGH SCHOOL.It became a fully government institution in 2010. In that year itself, the school was allowed Higher Secondary batch..Now the school is well known as ALAGAPPANAGAR PANCHAYATH HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL.
