About Ewak Trust in Edakunni, Ollur, Thrissur

Origins of Edakunni warriem ,whose members today are spread widely, can be stretched back to the time of Tipu Sultan (1788-89 A.D).

Two Warrier brothers from Pozhayi variyam , thrikkalathur,situated between todays malappuram and kozhikode districts came to Edakunni vadakkiniyedath mana looking for a livelihood, They married two sisters and settled in Edakunni. Edakunni Warriem originated from one of these sisters, while the other sisters' successors could not be traced. There are two varying opinions that the sisters were from parakulangara warriem and aaratupuzha warriem, though parakulangara is more accepted

This is proved by the fact that Edakunni warriem paradevatha is Parakulangara Bhagavathy

Mullakal Bhagavathy, who resides inside Edakunni warriem nalukettu is none other than Pozhayi Bhagavathy

Edakunni Warriem Karanavasthanam trust has charge of managing four temples including Edakunni Bhagavathy, Subramaniam Kshetram,Maraykkal Kshethram,Kallampaara Kshethram.

Edakunni Bhagavathy is a participant in the famous aaratupuzha pooram, and Uthram vilakku ulsavam of Edakunni temple is famous for its melam.

Famous people from our family include former minister of erstwhile Kochi desam, Sri Ikkanda Warrier and Kochi Divan Sankara Warrier
