About Kerala Land Development Corporation in TC 11/570, Museum Bains Compound Kowdiar P.O, Thiruvananthapuram

The Kerala Land Development Corporation (KLDC) was incorporated under the companies Act 1956 in 1972 under the administrative control of the Agriculture Department with a view to promote, undertake and execute land development and allied schemes in Kerala for the integral development of Agriculture. It is also envisaged to undertake consultancy, project preparation, design & execution of projects/schemes of any type including construction activities.

Since its incorporation, K.L.D.C is working as an agency for the effective implementation of various projects to alleviate the grievances of the farmers, especially in the low lying and water logged areas of the State. The Corporation has become the prime facilitator for the State's food security by providing the basic infrastructure for integrated and multi crop cultivation to replace the traditional practice of single crop cultivation. The Corporation has also begun the implementation of Warehouses for storage of agricultural produce. Now after successfully implementing over 150 major projects during the 41 years of existence and experience gained thereon, we have extended our services to building construction and landscaping.

The Corporation has ongoing projects under RIDF aided by NABARD, RKVY, NRHM, Social Justice Department, works entrusted Scheduled Caste Development Department, Department of Museums and Zoos, Tourism department, MP and MLA Local area development scheme, etc.

The Corporation executes has a full fledged engineering wing of 42 Civil Engineers to take up constructional activities on large scale. With qualified and experienced engineers and supporting staff, the Corporation is able to carryout the entire projects starting from planning to implementation in a smooth and time bound manner.

The Corporation executes the work as per the Kerala PWD norms. The Corporation ensures quality of workmanship and standards of civil works as per KPWD Manual and ensure the use of standard materials.

At present, the Corporation has projects costing around Rs.295 crore including ongoing and newly sanctioned projects.

One of the major landmark projects awarded to KLDC for execution is the Thrissur Ponnani Kole Development Projects for a total cost of Rs.300 crore which aims at development benefitting 17692 hectares of Kole area thereby enhancing cultivation of paddy. As the first phase of this project government has accorded administrative sanction for a total amount of Rs.123.52 crore under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) during 2014-15 and the sanction for balance work is expected during 2015-16.

Another major landmark of the Corporation is the "Sahasra Sarovar" which aims at the development of water bodies such as ponds, chiras, etc. for fresh water conservation and ground water recharge while directly benefiting agriculture. The projects intends to develop 1000 such water bodies throughout the State. The first such project being the Renovation of the 14 acre "Kottamchira" which will be inaugurated shortly. The multipurpose "Agriculture Complex", an eight storied building at Thrissur is another prestigious project of KLDC for an amount of Rs. 17 crore which is under construction.

Future projects envisaged by KLDC are "Tharisu Rehita Keralam" intended for the conversion of fallow lands to cultivable lands and the beautification of the "Kanakakunnu Palace" and its surroundings in Thiruvananthapuram to match international standards.

In tune with its changed outlook and work culture, many departments like Tourism, Health, Museums & Zoos, Social Justice Department, Scheduled Caste Development, etc. are coming forward to entrust their works to KLDC.
