About Kanelwan in Bijbehara Anantnag Kashmir, Srinagar

“Kanelwan” is a village but like town of district Anantnag thesil Bijbehara J&K. It is located at Bijbehara-Pahalgam road just 6 Km from National Highway at Bijbehara or 7 Km from Railway Station Bijbehara (Bijbiara) with worldwide famous Pahalgam 36 Km away. This village was established before 100’s of years by the great Islamic Saint Hazrat Syed Bakir Ali Shah Kirmani(RA) whose shrine is located in the top of Kanelwan near Aswara. It is the heart of Dachnipora area of district Anantnag. It is well educated, highly developed and very rich village although by Government side it has been neglected in all developments. The people of Kanelwan are engaged with education and Apple gardens. Kanelwan is one of the largest villages of Bijbehara area with +5000 people. It consists of about dozen sub-villages or Mohalas which are; Manzpora, Bonpora, Herpora/Karloo, Sundpora/Chandpora, Manjan, Buedun, Sheikhpora, Apiripora/Tantarypora, Aswara, Banderpora, Chinigund, (others are Nowpora, Bewora, Magripora). By geography, map of Kanelwan is circular and B-P road divides it into two parts, one part is slopy and all other is plane. There are two fresh water streams flowing through Kanelwan, one is called Dendafar/Advuni and the other is called Wuhuni.
