Ekalavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Pungar is an English Medium School for Class VI to XII, affiliated to CBSE New Delhi under ST&SC Development Department Govt. of Odisha. A residential School/college (only for ST/SC ) which is located in Koraput district,Orissa.
It is a central government amendment under guidance of state government of Orissa(OMTES). The Odisha Model Tribal Education Society (OMTES) was established on 31st March 2000 registered under Indian Societies Registrations Act (No.XXI 1860) bearing Registration No.20857/198, 1999-2000 by Registrar of Societies, Odisha, Cuttack.

Formerly it was located in Sunabeda upto 2004. But in year 2004 it was shifted to Pungar near Kunduli village, Semiliguda,Koraput.
Full form of EMRS,Pungar is Ekalavya Model Residential School,Pungar.

It is a school like 'TEMPLE' where teacher and student relationship is very strong.
Education system and accommodation is marvelous.
Student studying here are from 6th to +2(Science only).
All facilities are there in the school boundary like cricket field,volley ball ground, hostels for boys and girls,yoga teachers,PET teachers, extra tutorials,giviedng many opportunities to the sports and talent student by the faculties and principal.
Many groups are there in the school for student's extra curricular activities like NCC, Health care, Red cross etc.

Academic Management:Regular Classes of the institution are taken by the subject teachers with strict adherence to the time table prepared by the academic bursars of the school. Pre-examination coaching for JEE is being imparted to +2 Science students in different subjects, in the morning hours, i.e. from 6.30 am to 8.30am. Pre-examination coaching for the students appearing Annual HSC, Examinations. Remedial coaching & individual guidance classes.

Hostel And Mess Management:The Hostels (boys and girls) are being run and managed by the active superintendence of the principal and Asst. Superintendent appointed monthly on rotation basis from among the teaching staffs. The lady teachers are specially appointed as Asst. Superintendent of girls hostel.

Health And Hygienic Management:The Hostel superintendents are looking after the health and hygienic condition of the boarders. The ailing boarders, suffering from different diseases, are being hospitalized to nearest Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment. Occasionally health check-up camps are being organized, by inviting doctors from the nearest PHC and Hospital. Boarders are regularly being given, anti-malaria tablets like chloroquine, artesunate for prevention of malaria.
Eco Management:Different local species, medicine plants, perennial and non-perennial flowering plants, fruit bearing plants are being grown by the students, during their leisure time, with the active supervision of agriculture and other teachers.
