Swara Ragini provides the unique opportunity for students everywhere in the world to learn Carnatic Vocal and/or Veena from the convenience of their own home.

Till just a few decades ago, any serious Carnatic music aspirant would have had to undergo music instruction through a 'gurukulavasam' system. Many of the present-day music veterans are a product of that traditional system. Today, however, the advances in technology have helped break geographical barriers to reach students and patrons across the world.

Smt. Mokkarala Krishna Kumari has been teaching Carnatic Vocal and Veena lessons for over 25 years. A number of her students have migrated overseas and repeatedly requested their guru to start online classes so that they could continue their learning. Breaking the barriers of distance, Krishna Kumari has now begun offering this centuries-old art form through live audio/video chat media. Online classes will be provided for both veena and vocal. INSTRUCTOR PROFILE:
Smt. Mokkarala Krishna Kumari is an accomplished and widely acclaimed Veena artist from Andhra Pradesh. Hailing from a family steeped in musical traditions, Krishna’s life has been filled with melody from the very beginning. Gifted with prodigious talent, it did not take her too long to become recognized by many as one of the best and most versatile Veena artists of today. Her virtuosity on the instrument, a rare musical insight, rich tonal quality, and strict adherence to Vizianagaram Sampradayam, have all won her the appreciation of the layman and connoisseur alike. A patron once described her as “an amazing classical artist who uses her Veena to paint the fine shades of Ragam, Ragalapana, and Kriti in glorious colors!”

Krishna performs regularly in All India Radio and TV programs. She has given several live concerts in India and outside India, and is a recipient of a number of prestigious awards and other forms of recognition. Her overseas performances at the Swarnandhra festival in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, for the Hindu Cultural Association in Wales, UK, and at the Ugadi Celebrations (organized by Tantex) in Dallas, USA. are just a few of her international performances.

For the past 25+ years, Krishna has been imparting training to a number of students in Hyderabad in both vocal music and the Veena.

Krishna credits her success and achievements to the encouragement and support of her family and to the bountiful blessings from her gurus, Smt. Manda Manikyam, Smt. Ambujavalli, and Sri. Kokkonda Subrahmanya Sarma.
