About Valerian Grammar High School in J.J Nagar Colony, Bolarum, Yapral, Secunderabad

Almost five decades ago in the lush greenery of the Secunderabad Cantonment area in Yapral a dream was born. It was a dream to empower and enlighten the children with top-class education and educational amenities. The first step towards realizing this dream was taken by Rev Fr Joseph Vadakal in the year 1961 when he established Valerian Grammar High School to help all those who sought wisdom. It was his endeavor to foster the intellectual, spiritual, physical aspect of every student who walks into the campus of the school.

Established in 1961, Valerian Grammar High school, is a place known for its excellence in learning, sports, curriculum and co-curricular activities. a year or more spent in the premises of this institution gives a student the most important thing in his life to be carried forward, his education, and a heart full of memories to be smiled at. Valerian has always strived to excel in all its fields of practice. The school is situated in a land away from the noise of the city to define the phrase ‘Temple of Education’.

The Premises, Location, Transport.

Being situated in Bolarum at the border of the military golf course it carries the advantage of being away from the sounds of noisy horns or people. Some people might call it in the middle of a forest. We call it in the middle of peace. A walkable distance for people staying in Yapral and Bolarum, and for those staying away there is always the school bus facility which covers most parts of the city.

The Curriculum

The school has a curriculum designed for a step by step learning process so that the student leaves with a full detailed knowledge on his/her subjects. It is classified into four depending on the grade of the student. Pre-primary, Primary, Middle School, High School are the four levels the curriculum is classified into. Through each the student is moulded to take in more challenging theories of his/her subjects.

The Science labs.

You get to know how a ball bounces better when u see it bounce. The science labs are meant to achieve something similar. The school keeps the kid interested in his/her subjects by giving them practical inputs and experiences on the many scientific experiments. Thus helping the student to retain the theory with a fresher practical memory. The lab is equipped with a lot of the scientific tools and machines for the students to work with.

The Computer Lab

In a world that is running a digital race our school gives the students its necessary guidelines. The school is equipped with a computer lab possessing an approximate of 35 computers. The students are given a hands on learning experience on computer shortcuts, applications and basic computer education.

The Library.

The school is equipped with a library with a number of books from different genres of reading. It is a place where one can indulge in reading for fun and learning. Comics like the tinkle and chandamama are in plenty for the little readers, and books which contain knowledge on sciences and a lot more theoretical subjects are no less in number.

The Hostel.

For people who come from out of the city, our school gives them the advantage of a hostel facility. This gives the students a home away from home atmosphere. It is gives the students a balance in play, study and attention, which is more or less like the home setup.

The Sports & Co-Curricular activities.

All books and no play makes jack a dull boy. The school concentrates on not just educational development in a student. It gives them an opportunity to bring out the talents in them In the fields of sport or art. Every year there is an annual get-together of the many arch diociesonal schools for competitions in sports and art. Valerian gets to bag most of the prizes thanks to its ever motivating faculity.
