About Manahar sevashram in Bara Chand Ghar Nadia West Bengal, Plassey

History
In 1970s; a monk of Bengali Baul tradition Shri Manohar Bairagi and Kaushalya devi established this ashram to bring peace and happiness through spirituality in the village. By his effort every year many enlightened monk visited and stayed in the place. After his divine departure local young people took part to continue the spiritual activities by organizing Mahotsav, Baul mela etc. At the same time by the help of local residents started constructing a temple in the premises which is still under construction. In the year of 2010, local women group took an initiative to built a small Shani temple beside the main under construction temple, regular puja and maintenance is carried out by the women group of the village.
Activities
Manohar Sevashram Sangha serves as a platform for volunteers who help manage large community events. Every year in the month of sept – oct Annual program of MSS is organized in the ashram premises. 3 days continuous Kirtan mela and Mahotsav is organized. Many folk singers teams are invited, thousands of people visits and have free lunch during the festival.
The volunteers have helped in local big festival like Durga puja, Kali puja and providing essential services to the wlaking pilgrim huge number of people goes to Tarakeshwar temple and Baba sthan in Burdwan district, provide basic amenities such as drinking water, sarbat etc. The organization organizes blood donation camps every year where volunteers and other youth are encouraged to donate blood.
Books and study materials are given to the poor students.
Empowerment of women
Manohar Sevashram Sangha (MSS) in association with MOINA Foundation, Kolkata has started a center that provide vocational training to economically underprivileged women. It gives regular training on tailoring for women and helps them to become financially independent after the training is over. Everyone; who successfully completes their training gates certified and a new sewing machine is given to them and linking them with garment factories to market their finished products and get their wages. MSS aims to encourage every trained woman for earning minimum 3000Rs per month. One batch of 35Women already completed their training and started earning through this program. Another 35 women undergoing the training currently.
including centers that teach computers, tailoring, shorthand, stitching, sweater making, typing, carpentry, nursing, arts and handicrafts and recreational activities. These training programs help the participants find jobs and earn a livelihood.
Seva Bharati also has many initiatives aimed at creating awareness among the women regarding socio-economic programmes and health. The programmes create awareness about minor ailments, health, hygiene and nutrition, environment, pregnancy and rights of women, besides prevention of addiction.
English coaching for school going students
Everyday English coaching is given to the school going students to help and improve their English language by an efficient English teacher. 35 Students are attending the class and showing their improvement in their study.
Driving training
Newly started driving training program in association with Nabadwip driving training school for workless young people. 4 youngsters are undergoing their training; which financially supported by MOINA Foundation, Kolkata.
Upcoming projects:
Computer training center for skill development of youth. Basic knowledge of computer skill for digital India.

Environment awareness
The organisation conducts environment awareness programs among the general public. Such awareness campaigns have resulted in many environmental friendly steps being taken by the people. A pledge to shun environmentally hazardous disposable plastic items was taken by the residents.
