About Nature Safari India, Conservation Through Tourism in 51, B-3, Sector-11,Rohini, New Delhi

My first Safari in India in 1990 left an indelible mark on my mind. A thought to do something for the endangered Tiger, to make a difference hovered around and in my mind for few months subsequently. How do I do it? How do I make a difference? All this got me to study the Tiger, it's habitat, the challenges in our society, the threats, etc. One thing stood out predominantly and that that Tiger was losing it's ground much faster than anticipated. Be it poaching, loss of habitat, or the dependence of local community on forest for bio-mass, the challenges were many, but focus was one, to Save the Tiger. I thought of my own strengths and qualifications, and how could i best contribute. At this time I was working with the Taj Group of Hotels in India. Working in an industry which provides largest employment in the world gave me an answer. To make tourism an alternate economy in these remote areas was my soul call. To basically remove the dependence of the local community on the forest, thus saving the habitat of the Tiger, in turn Saving the Tiger. Next 10 years I went around seeing the various national parks in India, understanding the parks, the and the challenges. It was now that I realized that India had a lot to offer, one of the richest areas on this planet when it comes to bio-diversity. Be it the Asian Elephants, Asiatic Lions, Snow Leopards, One Horned Rhinos, more than 1200 bird species, India was home to many charismatic species, highly threatened species, and many endemic species as well. So when I started in year 2000 I knew exactly how to reach out to the local community, how to ensure they benefitted from tourism. Thus Nature Safari India was born. Ever since we have promoted tourism in the various national parks in India, including many lesser known parks, thus ensuring tourism revenues reaches out far and wide and not get restricted to only few parks in India. Our regular visits to these parks has assisted us in choosing the right drivers and guides for your safaris. If you are keen to do Safaris in India, do let us know your interests and we will tailor make a program to suit your preferences.
