About Ladli Foundation Trust in 9/277 Dakshin Puri Extn . Dr. Ambedkar Nagar New Delhi, New Delhi

Ladli Foundation Trust has witnessed the lives of people living in slum and rural areas from the most proximate realm. We have seen that prominence of women in these areas is lower than that of animals. Destitution is so deeply rooted that to get their daughters married at an appropriate age and over it in a dignified family seems to be a mirage that can never get shape in pragmatic life.
We witnessed that there is nobody to take care and look after the girls born twenty or twenty five years ago in the unprivileged families who did not get education due to born in poor families in Slum n rural areas . We believes that the poor family mourns over the birth of a girl child in their family; they start saving money and accumulating the assets for the marriage of the girl. Since, Dowry, a monster in the society stand with its mouth wide open, a girl is considered to be the liability and an unmarried girl, an anathema or the object of abhorrence. Girl is considered to be the honour of the family and her marriage is the issue of prestige in society and failing it, brings a bad name to the family; facing this frustration of social insult the family holds the girl responsible and starts blaming her for her ill fortune and not getting married. The poor girl is left devastated with no emotional support from the family and decides either to elope with somebody or suicides.
Birth of a male child is a matter of great elation and festivities in any family. But it’s the time to mourn in the highest decibels of despair, if an innocent girl is born in the family of lower strata. As it’s considered that her birth brings in the lifelong baggage of dowry. Right from the inception, efforts are made to save money for her marriage and other significant spheres of life such as educational and extra-curricular growth takes a back seat.
Ladli Foundation believes that the most vulnerable prey in India today is an “uneducated poor women”. He gets poignant to see that because of the curse of being uneducated and poor these girls gets molested, raped, dragged to prostitution, abused even within the four walls of domestication. Under such pressure she even resorts to suicide.
Revolting is not an option for these girls and even if the family tries they get backfired with the question “Why don’t you get her married?”
Ladli Foundation firmly believes that such household which are economically so incompetent the best way to safeguard women out there is to get her married in a family where she can be safe, happy and protected where her off springs at least take birth in a different air of respect.

This situation required a much awaited change, a change that could annihilate the title on women of being a burden or a liability imposed on man, that could bestow on them the illumination of education, a change that give them a higher stature in the society .In fact, it required a revolution rather than a change.
Ladli Foundation brought this revolution, which not only marked its presence but also became historic and has abolished the prevalent prejudices.
We did a magnanimous task of executing mass marriages of 562 girls, apart from this; we also took the entire expense of these marriages on our shoulder and that too without any government aid. At least there is one thing in India that works beyond the demarcation of race, religion, and colour. Girls no matter from where they belonged were helped in an egalitarian way by Ladli Foundation. Domestic Utility items of worth rupees 1 lakh were given to each and every girl by him to ensure a beautiful dawn of their life. He gave them “a voice of their own” and an optimism that will never wither away with time.
we takes the responsibility to verify the family background and the history sheet of each groom that he holds no criminal record, only then the knot is tied and his line of action does not stop there, he pays a visit after every 3 months to ensure the safety of these girls. And this is to announce with great pride that no case of dowry and domestic violence has been reported.
The efforts of Ladli Foundation have been so rewarding that the idea of mass marriages were added in the agenda by all the State governments and is adding fuel to the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” initiative taken by the Union Govt. under the able guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister.
The biggest task of any revolution is to bring a change in the mind set of the people. Ladli Foundation accomplished this, the girls whom he got married have given birth to girls and not a single case of female infanticide has been reported to top it all they are being bestowed with education. Conspicuously, girls from these marginalised household are being send to school. We have been the greatest blessing for these girls; he says that being the reason behind this revolution is the greatest honour of his life.

Ladli Foundation initiated the innovative plans like Skill Development Training to Poor girls in slum areas, " Free English language and Basic Computer Training to Matriculated & intermediate Girls who are still doing Domestic help in Societies ", "Youth Girls Clubs", " legal Counselling on Crime against women matters , Self-defence and first aid methods in Delhi Slums" and hence played a major role in making them an asset for the society. For the rural vocational training both technical and non-technical were undertaken.

Brief about ladli Foundation Trust

It is evident that the poor people living in camps or slum areas of Delhi struggle everyday for their sustenance and hence are not economically capable of getting their daughters married at the appropriate age. Consequently, the unmarried girl of a marriageable age becomes the victim of certain anti social elements. Upon investigation Laadli Foundation found that honour, self-respect and dignity of women are all unprotected by either getting raped or being dragged into prostitution and various other kinds of menace exiting the society of weaker sections.
In such an environment if a girl or the family raises the voice in order to oppose; they are suppressed with a mean rationality and usually a counter query is put by the offenders, ‘why they don’t marry the girl if they want to protect her????’
In India, girl is considered to be the honour of the family and her marriage is the issue of prestige in society and failing it, brings a bad name to the family; facing this frustration of social insult, the family holds the girl responsible and starts blaming her for her ill fortune and not getting married. The poor girl is left devastated with no emotional support from the family and decides either to elope with somebody or suicides.
This mere reason of the economic incompetence of the family to get their daughter married at the right age is leading to the increase in the social crimes such as eve teasing, physical and sexual exploitation, domestic violence, rape, female foeticide and girl infanticide against women. Poverty acts as a curse for women and the society.
Laadli Foundation believes that the poor family mourns over the birth of a girl child in their family; they start saving money and accumulating the assets for the marriage of the girl. Since, Dowry, a monster in the society stand with its mouth wide open, a girl is considered to be the liability and an unmarried girl, an anathema or the object of abhorrence.
Devendra Kumar Gupta, (Founder President Laadli Foundation) with his social efforts and devoid of any government aid and economic help, organized group/ Mass marriages (SamuhikVivah) for the girls of the underprivileged sections of the society and successfully solemnized the marriage of more than 562 girls at the mere age of 28 years. Laadli Foundation gave these girls a new hope, dreams and positivity. We helped them to start their life afresh with the items of domestic utility as a gift worth rupees one lakh to each girl.
