Pragmatix brings experience of designing and delivering rigorous high quality impact evaluations using large-scale mixed method design addressing the “before-after”, and “treatment-control” (using econometric designs such as randomised control trials, matched pairs, etc.), and participatory impact evaluations (using real stories, participatory rural appraisals), in variety of domains (agriculture, micro finance, education, health and livelihoods). For high quality data validation and data analysis, we are using STATA, SPSS, NVIVO9 (qualitative data), customised data entry using SQL and MS Access. Pragmatix has more than 11+ years of experience of supporting development organisations in India and South Asia, South-East Asia and Africa. The Quantified Participatory Assessment (QPA): is the assessment methodology at the community level, to collect stakeholder perceptions and convert them into numbers using an ordinal scoring system. These findings are entered into a database, analysed and the discussed at multi-stakeholder meetings aimed at generating positive course correction steps. The Qualitative Information Appraisal (QIA): is a complete package comprising the QPA, multi-stakeholder meetings and an action planning report, which can be used for qualitative baselines, mid-term appraisals, and end of projects evaluations or even for annual assessments for a limited sample of the project area. The Qualitative Information System (QIS): is a package that offers projects and programme level monitoring and evaluation of qualitative information from community assessments in project areas. It comprises a web-based repository of all qualitative information, including findings from QIAs, case studies and special reports.
These methodologies have been using since 2004, for project supported by DFID, ADB, World Bank, EC, Unicef and the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Africa and Vietnam.
Pragmatix produced for Overseas Development Institute, London, a web-based repository of field-experience with implementing Swajaldhara, the community-based water supply programme of the Government of India (www.securewater.org.uk). It is aimed at secondary stakeholders who work with rural communities and designed to provide a range of tried and tested approaches to common problems that beset field implementation.
