About Dr.Devendra Kr Gupta National Award Winner in Habitat India, Ground Floor Tower II C 3 Qutab Institutional Area, New Delhi

Mr. Devendra K. Gupta, a National Awardee, is the founder “Run For Laadli” & Laadli Foundation Trust. He has been working for the upliftment of socially weaker sections since childhood for the last 17 years.

Devendra is a grassroot level social activist & is conferred with National Award by the Govt. of India. He has also been awarded with Honorary Doctorate & many other prestigious awards & recognitions for his outstanding social work.

Recently Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India nominated him for the prestigious Padma Shri Award, the 4th highest civilian award of India, for his selfless and outstanding work in the field of social issues and empowerment of the underprivileged

He is known for pioneering unique projects that have educated & benefited thousands of young girls in slums. He was born in a South Delhi slum & was left alone at the age of 2 by his parents with his 3 days old infant sister. He started his social journey aged 14 by resolving to secure safety & welfare of young boys & girls facing immense struggle himself.

He has saved thousands of young girls from the clutches of sexual exploitation & harassment by organizing unique mass wedding programs and rehabilitating them.

He has till now rehabilitated more than 12,000 unprivileged girls & women by Making them seek respectable jobs and employment through free computer & English training. He has also helped more than 6000 poor girls to complete their Intermediate education.

Very Recently he Fought for saved Thousands of Poor Girls from leaving their studies because of Delhi govt decision to relocate the existing school to 7 KM far with deserted path from current location. where parents of girls took united decision not to send their daughter to school. His struggle has changed the Govt decision not to relocate the school. Same has been covered by national Media

His new innovative project is a unique Half-Marathon “RUN for LADLI”, which is an Initiative to spread awareness towards Gender Equality & to Stop Crimes against Women. The event will have a Unique feature to bring approx. 15000 unemployed young boys from different Slums with the support of Delhi Police to enroll them for employment & skill training through Skill India Program & pledge to raise their voice to stop domestic violence & other crimes against women. Most of these unemployed boys are generally engaged themselves in various criminal activities including eve teasing & other crimes against women. The participation of these boys will create awareness among them & to get a rare carrier opportunity. Friendship with local police will boost their confidence to change themselves to become an asset for their family & society rather than being liability over them. It is an effort to involve& inspire male population to come out as a savior & be a part to raise voice in favor of females & gender equality.
