ORGAN (Organ Receiving & Giving Awareness Network) India, is an initiative of the Parashar Foundation.

The Parashar Foundation was set up in 2000 by Ashok Parashar with an aim to help the poor and less fortunate by providing funds to various schools, health centers and other organisations. While our previous work was primarily in the form of donations to various causes, this year is the 7th death anniversary of Ashok Parashar. And in his memory we now have a defined goal – to create an organ donor system in Delhi that will benefit everyone, regardless of religion, age, sex, caste, or social standing.

THE GOALS OF THE PARASHAR FOUNDATION

For the Parashar Foundation, it is a goal that stems from a personal struggle of one of its members. Kirti Parashar, Ashok Parashar’s wife, needs a new heart. She has the means, the best doctors and a family who supports her. But there’s no heart to be found in Delhi and the wait could be endless. Kirti Parashar has moved to Chennai (which has a well-organised network in place), to wait for a new heart. She can afford do it. But for the people of Delhi who don’t have that option? This system is for them.

We are investing in our futures and those of generations of our families to come. Tomorrow it could be any one of our loved ones who needs an organ. It’s time we shared. It’s time to wake up and get ORGAN-ised!
