Nisha Sahai Chauhan graduated in History Honors from Lady Sri Ram College. Her foray into fashion started with Esprit in the design department and she gradually became Assistant to Susie Tompkins (Founder and Creative Head, Esprit). Subsequently she held the Esprit Worldwide Agency for India, followed by tie ups with leading Italian& French clothing companies.
Nisha’s international experience and exposure as well as her deep appreciation for the exquisite design and fashion of her native India have given her pioneer status in an exciting design revolution as east and west seek inspiration, each from the other. Her unique style has been brought to the attention of an elite clientele within India and Internationally as well as attracting curiosity from other designers and patrons elsewhere in the world. She believes in the contemporary design sense and her skill in creativity stems from the way she combines classic richness with modern practicality.

Nisha is an avid proponent of cleaning the Ganga and the environment of plastic waste. In her scheme of things she has chosen to initiate the process at the first point where the holy waters from the mountains touches the plains - Rishikesh.

She has donated 5000 cotton bags inscribed " PLASTIC POISONS OUR HOLY GANGA " in English and "GANGA MAA KI PAVITRATA KO PLASTIC KE ZEHER SE NASHT NA KARE " in Hindi to the Art Of Living Foundation , Rishikesh and their spiritual head Sri SriRavisankar was kind enough to acknowledge her efforts in front of his entire congregation in Rishikesh in April 2014.

Her work has been recognized by the Parmarth Ashram, Rishikesh and she has been requested to
Donate the “HOLY GANGA” bags for distribution to their Ashram as well.

On the Republic day celebrations of the “Little Scholars Academy”,Roorkee , this year , she distributed the Holy Ganga bags and gave a talk to the small children about the need to keep the Ganga clean for their own future , realizing that the most potent tool for success in her kit is the pure energy of impassioned kids towards the propagation of this crucial cause.

The rehabilitation and empowerment of marginalized women is another issue very close to Nisha's heart and to this end she used the occasion to distribute sewing machines to some single mothers so that they can begin to earn an honorable livelihood with respect and pride.

So in effect, out of one positive social initiative another pressing social issue is addressed in a meaningful and practical manner.
