Deft Advisory and Research Private Limited (DEFT) is one of the few research-based advisory firms in India focusing on public policy and development sectors. It is a private limited company set up under the Indian Companies Act 1956.

DEFT’s main objectives can be summarized as:
- To provide research-based advisory services to Governments, multi-lateral, bi-lateral and development agencies on public policy, economic transformation, capacity building and regional cooperation.
- To support implementation of its research-based advisory services and assist clients achieve their objectives, DEFT undertakes conceptualization, preparation, designing and monitoring of projects by extending technical and managerial assistance to clients. Through its affiliate firms, DEFT also supports its clients on project financing activities.
