The DIPSAR is one of the best Pharmacy Institute in India, with a strength of approximately 500 students, situated on a beautiful 10 acre campus in South Delhi. The institute is experiencing a fast academic growth and commitment to the challenges of the 21 s ' century. In the highly competitive environment, the Institute is capitalizing on its strengths in areas such as academic innovation, comprehensive trainingand flexible educational delivery systems.

Started in 1964, as Department of Pharmacy of the Kashmere gate Polytechnic for imparting Diploma education in Pharmacy. Institute has moved to the present campus in 1979. The Institute awards Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral degrees in Pharmacy under University of Delhi, in addition to D. Pharmacy course.

It is the only Institution of Pharmacy in India where the faculty members are selected through Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Govt. of India. It is funded by Govt. of NCT of Delhi, and is affiliated to University of Delhi. The Institute imparts Master's degree in various specializations viz. Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Hospital Pharmacy and Quality Assurance. The Institute has submitted proposal to University of Delhi for starting four new M. Pharm Courses i.e. Pharmaceutical Management, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharma Regulatory Affairs, Herbal Drug Technology & Clinical Research for the academic session 2006-07 and also in the process of getting approval of AICTE.

Till date over 2200, D. Pharm more than I 100 B. Pharm, 325 M. Pharm and more than a dozen Ph. D's come out of the Institute.

The Institute campus encompasses the Institute building with a well-established library, a Herbal garden, a utility block consisting of Food court, shops. Gymnasium, indoor games facility etc.. Two Hostels, a sports complex, a Guest house, and 37 residential Quarters for the staff and a multipurpose hall.

The construction of a Swimming Pool & 8+ I storey P G block is going to start soon. Allotment of 50 Acres of land for extension of DIPSAR is in the pipeline. The institute has patented/applied for 14 patents which are in the process of licensing to National/Multinational Pharmaceutical Industries through National Research & Development Corporation, Govt. of India.

'Medicine and Poison Antidote Information Centre' (MAP1C) is serving the Northern India since 4th May, 2005.

The Institute is maintaining an outstanding record of academic excellence. Majority of the students Qualify GATE with flying colors every year. Thisyear, too, 22 students have secured more than 95 percentile marks; out of them thirteen have secured more than 99 percentile marks.

The Institute has been identified as a Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) cell by AICTE for continuing Pharmacy Education to teachers of various colleges of India to upgrade their knowledge and skills besides admitting them for career advancement in various disciplines of M. Pharmacy and Doctorate Programmes. All B. Pharm & M. Pharm & Ph. D, students are placed in National & International Pharmaceutical companies / Institutes through campus interviews well before the declaration of their results.

The Institute has been identified by AICTE as the Host Institution for National Doctoral Fellowship Scheme (NDF) and Early Faculty Induction Programme (EFIP).

FRONTIERS IN PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES

In the present Era of Globalization & Liberalization a large number of changes are being witnessed in Indian Pharmaceutical industry, Pharmaceutical Education and in the practice of Pharmacy. For facing these challenges, Pharmaceutical scientists, technologists and academicians of India have to become multi-faceted to keep pace with the fast developing science and technology. There is a wide gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for a Pharmacist to keep pace with the expectations of the Pharmaceutical industry.

Therefore, there is a need for harmonization of Pharmaceutical education to shape Pharmaceutical Scientists / Pharmacists with the latest knowledge and skills to face challenges of the future.

Efforts are being made to provide training to the teachers of Pharmacy Colleges with the recent advances and training in various research methodologies through these continuing Pharmaceutical education Programmes. During the past Thirteen Q.I.R Programmes, the institute has updated the knowledge & expertise of 445 teachers from 2 I states across the country on recent advances in all disciplines of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Participants: 30 only (not more than 2-3 teachers per college).
Eligibility: Permanent teachers of A1CTE approved Pharmacy Institutions.
Reimbursement: II Class Rail Fare.
Accommodation: Hostel Accommodation and meals will be provided in the Institute.
Resource: Experienced and trained faculty members of our Institution, Consultants and Scientists from other Organizations /Institutions.

• Establishment of Radio Immunoassay (RIA) Laboratory.
• Modernization of Animal House.
