About IPPF, South Asia Region in IPPF South Asia Regional Office, FPAI Bhawan, Plot 10, R.K.Puram, New Delhi

IPPF works with eight member associations in South Asia – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka – through its South Asia Regional Office (SARO) in New Delhi and Bangkok Each association is rooted in the culture of its country, providing locally relevant services in a highly challenging context of extreme poverty, gender inequity, restrictive laws, socio-religious barriers, and vulnerability to natural calamities.

IPPF has adopted innovative strategies to move the SRHR agenda forward and improve women’s health outcomes. These include addressing the lack of women’s empowerment and gender-based violence.

Engaging with religious leaders across the South Asia Region (SAR) to advance SRHR in extremely sensitive societies.

IPPF also supports vulnerable populations in SAR by offering them information on HIV and AIDS, as well as care and services for the prevention and treatment of HIV, whilst also addressing discrimination.

SAR is vulnerable to conflict and natural calamities, so IPPF and its associations have supported emergency response efforts at the onset of natural disasters and even conflict situations.

Many countries in South Asia have a predominantly young population, and the need for youth-friendly SRH services to ensure the spread of comprehensive sex education (CSE) that is age and contextually relevant, is high.

IPPF is committed to safeguarding these important choices and rights for current and future generations. We are committed to a world where all people, regardless of gender and sexuality are free to exercise their rights.
