About Robo Wars:The Ultimate War in SIES Graduate School Of Technology, Plot 1-C,D & E,Sector V,Nerul(east), Navi Mumbai (New Mumbai)

Introduction:
The most fascinating event in the field of robotics....the field where mechanical gladiators entertain you with their breath taking attempts to fight and defeat their opponents... the field where the meanest robots flaunt the spinners, cutters, hammers, flippers, rollers and more ! ! !

Come and shoot to thrill..play to kill..conquer the glory..and come out victorious of the Ultimate War ..!

All you got to do is design and construct a robot capable to survive the warfare.

Specifications
1. The maximum allowed dimension of the robot is 800 mm x 800 mm x 1000 mm .Any external devices used to control the robot does not come under this specification.
2. The robot should not exceed 40 kg of weight. Weight of the external power source or remote controllers is not counted. Weight of wireless robots and robots having on-board power supply will be counted as half of actual weight.
3. In case of use of any pneumatic/hydraulic source/tank:
•Robots can use non inflammable gas/liquids
•The pneumatic source/tank does not come under the dimension constraint, but its weight is considered .
•Its weight would be considered 1.5 times its actual weight
•Participants must be able to indicate the used pressure. Maximum allowed pressure is 8 bar for both hydraulic and pneumatic systems
•Participants are required to produce the Safety and Security letters at the Registration Desk at the venue before the match(the letter is downloadable. Participants are required to get the robot checked and the letter signed by any faculty in-charge/lab in-charge of any institute)

4. The robot must have controlled mobility. It can be wheeled, non wheeled or can be using tracks but jumping or flying is not allowed
5. Use of electricity is the only option. Use of an IC engine in any form is not allowed
6. The electric voltage between 2 points anywhere in the robot should not be more than 40 V DC at any point of time. In case of use of any AC voltage, it has to be converted into DC voltage before use in the robot
7. Proper care should be taken of the following:
•Participants are responsible to protect the battery terminals from a direct short causing a battery fire, failure to do so will cause direct disqualification.
•Wires used in the robots must be well insulated. In case of wired robots, all wires should be stacked together

8. The following conditions or circumstances during the course of match will not be considered for rematch or any pause in the match:
•Loose connections, wire entanglement or any problems regarding wires in case of wired robots
•Any frequency interference between the opponent robots in wireless systems(Participants are expected to do the required to avoid such interference)
•Damage of batteries or robot itself
•Change of battery during the match, etc will not be allowed)

9. Robots can have any kind of magnetic weapons, cutters, flippers, saws, lifting devices, spinning hammers etc. with some exceptions such as;
•No use of inflammable liquids or gases, high powered magnets or electro magnets
•No use of potentially or intentionally ignitable materials, flame based weapons
•No use of nets, glue or entanglement equipments etc
•No use of high voltage devices like tesla coil

10. Battery eliminators are allowed and power source would be available at the venue
11. Arena should not be damaged in any circumstances.
12. Robots must only be activated in the arena and testing areas
13. The decisions of the event heads are final and cannot be contested.

Rules
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
1. Participants should submit a written abstract before Feb 8 to robowars@tatvamoksh.org.
2. The written abstract must contain all the details regarding weapon system, power supply used, any unusual mechanism used(Safe innovation is always encouraged),and also the specification of all the components like batteries, wires, motors etc(with proper pictures showing the same)
(Abstracts will be strictly used to fix the matches)

Last Date of registration(abstract submission)- 8 February, 2013

TEAM SPECIFICATION:
A team may consist of a maximum of 6 participants, can be from different institutes

Who can participate?
BE/BTech(all streams)
BSc
Diploma in Engineering
Qualification is not a barrier .Interested participants are welcome to participate

CRITERIA FOR VICTORY:
1. A robot is declared victorious if the opponent robot is immobilized for a time period of 20 seconds
2.In case both the robots remain mobile till the end of the round(i.e 3 minutes),then the winner will be decided by the event heads on the basis of the attempts made by the two teams. If both the robots didn’t initiate any attempts to defeat the opponent, both the teams will be disqualified
3.In case both the bots attempted but could not defeat the opponent robot, then the winner will be decided on the basis of points
And the points are given on the following basis
•effects of the attacks made by the robot on the opponent robot(accidental attacks will not be counted, also damage caused will not be counted if the robot harms itself)
•minimal arena hazards
•defense from the attacks of the opponent robot

REGISTRATION FEE:
Entry fee: Rs.300/-
The registration form and safety and security letter must be produced on the day of the event.(Please check the downloadable files)
