Established in 2011, the Institute currently is currently headed by Dr. Jairam M. Khobragade.

The courses offered by IFSc Nagpur are B.Sc. Forensic Science, M.Sc. Forensic Science, PG Diploma in Forensic Science & Related Laws, and PG Diploma in Digital and Cyber Forensic Science and Related Laws. The intake capacity for the B.Sc. course is 50 and minimum eligibility is 12th Science, while the intake capacity for M.Sc. Forensic Science is 20. The intake capacity for both the PG courses is 40 each. The cost of prospectus is Rs 200 and admissions are done on the merit basis.
