About YUVA SENA in Dindoshi Vidhansabha Goregaon, Mumbai

The Yuva Sena, the youth wing of the Shiv Sena, has emerged as the most potent forum for the youth to voice its opinion and grievances in Maharashtra. The Yuva Sena was launched on October 17, 2010, on the shubh tithi of Dassera, in the auspicious presence of Shiv Sena Pramukh Shri Balasaheb Thackeray, Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhavji Thackeray and lakhs of Shiv Sainiks.

Since its inception, Yuva Sena President Aaditya Thackeray and his Yuva Sainiks have motivated and inspired youngsters from across different walks of life. From agitations to delegations, from protests to policy changes, when issues are those that matter to youngsters, the Yuva Sena has led from the front. The Yuva Sena has used constructive means that promise an end to youngsters and not end up in mere politics of protest. The Yuva Sena, now synonymous with youth, politics and policy, has been in the frontline for taking up their issues with relevant authorities including the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and several Union Cabinet Ministers.

The Yuva Sena has been at the forefront of student politics in Maharashtra and it won an overwhelming youth and student mandate when it won 8 out of 10 seats and swept the Mumbai University Senate for the Graduate Constituency Seats, making history in the city's student politics.

The Yuva Sena has promoted student activism through “Yuva Seva”, a vision promoted by Yuva Sena President Aaditya, where students work to serve the interests of other students and citizens. The office bearers of the Yuva Sena are none but the youth and students themselves from across the Maharashtra, who rightly think that they can make a difference, not just by complaining but by engaging in constructive politics. The Yuva Sena is thus, in the true sense of the words, an organization of youth, by youth and for youth.

Since its inception, the Yuva Sena has been revolutionizing politics in Maharashtra, in a way no other youth organization has. It has been the flag bearer, protecting and preserving youth and student interests. From ensuring fair selection methods for students' participation in sports to solving problems relating to the declaration of results, the Yuva Sena has worked for students. It has agitated and protested on behalf of students when unscrupulous people have tried to cheat students by closing down colleges to build commercial buildings.

And its area of work hasn't ended in the buzzing campuses of Mumbai, but reaches far and wide into Maharashtra rural hinterland. While the students in the cities have grievances, the issues at stake for youngsters are grave and at times even life threatening.

From serving in rural districts and helping curb the issue of malnutrition to helping senior citizens, and hosting Mumbai's biggest health camp, Aaditya has created the concept of channelizing and transforming youth energy into service for the people. Built on these very lines, the Yuva Sena- Yuva Seva, it is about youngster's rights, duties and dedicated service.

The Yuva Sena's array of activities can be categorized under three distinct arenas:

'Education, Health and Employment'; Activities under the wide umbrella of these three categories has transformed the Yuva Sena, in just over one year into a mass organization of the youth that, works not just on television and social networking sites, amongst intellectuals but at the grassroots among the teeming masses too, in tune with the Shiv Sena's tradition where social work is rated above politics.

The Yuva Sena has begun spreading its wings in other states of India like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Kerala too. Not imposing leadership, but instilling and creating leadership into each and every young heart is what the Yuva Sena is about. And this philosophy isn't restricted to politics only, but also extends to other sectors of life like business entrepreneurship, social service, art, sports, cultural activities and entertainment. The Yuva Sena is creating a better cooperation between the youth of today in all spheres of life with an aim to give them a chance to play a part in nation building.

Sena (army when necessary) and Seva (service when needed) is the motto for this new age breed of Yuva Sainiks. Bustling with energy of the future and instilled with the wisdom of the past, the Yuva Sena is positioned as a forward thinking youth organization where attitude matters as much as aptitude.

The Yuva Sena has active members and young office bearers who are being honed as the next generation leaders of India. Yuva Sena's objective, since its inception has been 'Yuva Seva' and this very philosophy has propelled the organization and its leader Aaditya to the pinnacle of youth politics, not just in Maharashtra but nationally.
