Our organisation "ASHADEEP" is a non profit non government organisation. Firstly we would like to congratulate you for your successful tour of Mumbai .Hope people of Mumbai will be benefited from your message & mantra of unity.

Ashadeep - means a ray of hope and stands for Action beyond Help and Support. It was registered, as a society under societies Act 1860 in 2009, with an aim to promote the rights of children and adolescents by creating greater opportunities for them to enjoy better quality of life. Today Ashadeep works to reduce gender disparity in education to children through its various educational initiatives.

Peoples participation and child centered approach is integral to all programs of Ashadeep. Its strength lies in mobilizing communities and building linkages with Government schools and functionaries to ensure the child’s right to education. More...

Ashadeep is starting Children’s community library in Mira road to promote reading habit among children especially girls who were school dropouts. Besides providing them a place to read books, the library became a space for girls to come together discuss issues and speak their minds. During this time we will develop an excellent rapport with the migrant families, many of whose children, especially girls, were out of school and many of whom had never been to school.

This only will strengthen our resolve ‘Every Girl in School’ and ensuring completion of elementary and secondary education for all children. Building on this, our work in the last few days has helped us to reach out to more than 100 disadvantaged and socially excluded girls living in urban slum communities and urban villages of thane ensuring out of school girls access elementary education and school going girls stay in school longer. Every day we reach out to more children directly through our various programs. To achieve this Ashadeep designed programs, which would not only cater to the educational needs of the urban marginalized girls at each stage of her growing up but also provide the backward and forward linkages in the form of programs for girls to access quality education, while addressing issues of security and protection. Pehla Kadam for the 3-5 age group, TEACH Plus and the Reading Room Program for Children of primary school going age, the Girls Education Program and a School Health and Hygiene Program for middle and secondary school girls, TEACH (Train and Educate Adolescents with Community Health) and the Community Learning centre, a program for Youth, and a Girls Interest Centre to ensure learning and recreational rights of the girls.

The Programs are inspired by Government of India’S -Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan
