About Piping Engineering Cell, IIT Bombay in Piping Engineering Cell, CAD Centre, ChE Department, IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai

IIT Bombay's course on Piping Engineering was launched in 1992. It was a professional development programme developed as a joint initiative of industry and academia. This course instantly filled an existing gap between the requirement of industry's design and engineering sector and what conventional curriculum of established engineering disciplines of chemical engineering, mechanical engineering etc. offered. The course received huge response from professionals which literally thronged to the course year after year and edition after edition. It continues its popularity even as it is poised to reach its silver jubilee.

The course increased interaction between industry and CAD centre of IIT Bombay and offered solutions to many problems of the design and engineering sector. Piping Engineering Cell was formed to focus more on this major component of process plant engineering. This cell in the Chemical Engineering Department is now known as a one stop solution provider for all piping engineering related problems faced by industry.

The Piping Engineering Cell presently offers two online courses, one on Piping Engineering and the other on Process Equipment Design. The course on Piping Engineering is also available in its contact format (class room teaching) twice every year.
