About The Stephen High School for the Deaf and Aphasic in Plot no 898, S.K. Bole Road, Prabhadevi, Mumbai

Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel, a religious Society of the Catholic Church, founded by St. Louis Grignion de Montfort in the 18th century in France. The Brothers are active in the field of education throughout the world. In India they run many Schools, Colleges and Technical Institution, besides engaging in Social Action Movements and other Humanitarian Services. These institutions and Services are part of the Catholic Church's effort to educate and empower the people of India. Montfortian education is committed to promote authentic human values that are universal and are relevant to our times and culture.
Today we are spread over in India within seven Provinces. Since our main mission is through education, we run schools of general education, technical schools, and schools for the differently abled. We also manage orphanages, impart non-formal education and are involved in catechetical/faith formation and social works. We are also the pioneers of University education in Counselling Psychology in India, providing Post Graduate Degree in Counselling.

Spread across over thirty five countries, the Montfort Brothers are working for the cause of the hearing impaired for the last two hundred years. In India over hundred years the service to deaf are provided in different states. There are nine schools for the deaf and there is a full-fledged institution for teachers training for the deaf.

The Stephen High School For the Deaf and Aphasic was established in 1957. It is run by the Society of the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel. It is recognised by the Maharashtra state Board. It is a Special School educating the differently abled children. The School prepares the hearing impaired children for the Secondary School certificate examination. The medium of instruction is English.
