About MRSC in SIES College, Sion(West), Mumbai

The Media Research & Study Center’ (MRSC) is the association of Journalists and academicians who teach or research in Higher Education in Media Studies. This includes practice-based work as well as more 'academic' disciplines.

‘The Media Research & Study Center’ (MRSC) invite all Journalism students, researchers, teachers and journalist working in print, television and other media to explore our mission to promote the highest possible standards for journalism students in an effort to achieve better professional practice.

MRSC has started two courses in TV Journalism. MRSC will be conducting the courses in association with SIES College (Sion). Registration is available half yearly for 1 year course and quarterly for other course.

1. Advance Diploma in TV Journalism:
Duration: One Year

2. Professional Diploma in Sports Jouralism & Management
Duration: Six Months

3. Certificate Course in TV News Cameraman
Duration: 3 months

All courses are available in English, Hindi & Marathi

Facilities: Every student will be trained on industry-standard equipments, backed up by every possible support facility. Whether in the studio, the edit suite, the training room or out on location, we will provide unrivalled learning environments.


MRSC has following infrastructure & facilities,

1. Fully air-conditioned class-room, lab, editing bay & Studio.
2. Class room will be equipped with screen & projector for audio-visuals demonstration.
3. A state of art studio for Anchoring, News reading, panel discussion.
4. Video library
5. A sate of art lab which will have video editing, voice over, Sound recording, graphics learning facility.
6. Equipments like Video camera, different types of mikes & lights for audio- visual training to the students.
7. Specially produced text & audiovisual material relating to TV Journalism.
8. Field trips and mock press conferences to enhance and brush skills with reality.
9. Excursions with top TV journalism channels.

Special Feature:
All the course material will be having text notes. In addition each & every chapter will have audio-visuals & graphical support. Which will include rare video’s from 1930 to latest news clippings of 2011.

Faculty will be consist of senior professional TV Journalists from all leading News Channels of India.

The members of the core team are as follows.
1- Sanjay Singh: A respected TV journalist with experience of more than 15 years of experience. Singh has been credited as the man who exposed the ‘Telgi fake stamp scam’. He had also authored ‘Telgi Scam – Reporter Ki Diary’ the only written document on the Telgi scam. He was honoured with the International Press Institute Award by the President of India. He has held a number of senior positions in leading news channels like NDTV, TIMES NOW, IBN7, NEWS X and Zee News in the past.
He is also doing PhD in “TV journalism & rural society” from University of Mumbai.

2- Jyoti Shahpurkar: Jyoti is a senior TV journalist and teacher, who began her journalistic career in 1995. He has held a number of senior positions in leading news channels like NDTV, Asian News International (ANI) Reuter, In Time News Channel , SAHARA. She is also winner of ‘Best City Journalist award’ by CENTRAL Railways. She was also Team Director of CINEMA VISION INDIA . A Masters Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communications from Symbiosis Institute of Management and a Law Graduate, Jyoti is Visiting faculty at SIES College SION, SYMBIOSIS INSTITUTE PUNE, CIIT MEDIA PUNE, MIIT PUNE .

3- Randhir Kamble : Randhir is an old hand at journalism with great editorial experience. He is also one of the strongest voices of Regional & political TV journalism. He has held senior positions of Dy. News Editor with Ibn Lokmat, Principal Correspondent with ZEE NEWS & E-TV and was Feature Editor with Unique Features. A Master in Communication & Journalism from Pune University, Randhir has been associated with lot of social & literary movements.

4- Rahul Maheshwari: He is among the first generation of TV journalists. In a career spanning 15 years Rahul has reported on isuues ranging from civic matter to buisness to politics of Maharashtra, Gujarat & Goa. He has worked in leading channels like IBN, TIMES NOW, NEWS X. Along with reporting he has also worked on desk and gained valuable insight into the working of news organizations. His interest is in the filed of research of socio-economic& socio-economic issues.
