About Rolling Stones Resort in 9/518 Vazhaithottam Mavanalla Post, Masinigudi

The Rolling Stones Resort is located at Vazhaithottam in the Madumalai Wildlife Sanctuary, Tamil Nadu which covers an area of 321 sq km. This is where the Nilgiri Hills, an extension of the Western Ghats meets the Eastern Ghats at a height of about 1000 mtrs above MSL. We are located on the Mysore Ooty road via Masinagudi and Ooty is just a 20 kms drive uphill. While Mysore is 100 kms away and a 2 hours drive, Bangalore is 240 kms with a 5 hours drive. Coimbatore is the nearest airport and is 100 kms away with a 2 hours drive.

The animals that are to be spotted in the Sanctuary includes Elephant, Gaur, Bonnet Macaque, Common Langur, Tigers and Leopards, Chital, Dhole, Sloth Bear, Python, Barking Deer, Four-Horned Antelope, Otter and Crocodiles (Mugger) in the Moyar valley, Giant Flying Squirrel, Sambhar, Hyena, Wild Dog, Wild Boar, Mouse Deer, Jackal, Hare, Porcupine, Mongoose and the Civet Cat.

You can also spot several feathered creatures like Peacock, Grey jungle fowl, Malabar Whistling thrush, Greater racket-tailed drongo, the Shama or Magpie-Robin, Spotted Babbler, Small Green Barbet, Green Pigeons, Little Brown Dove, Malabar Grey Hornbill, Bulbuls, Mynahs, Paradise Flycatchers, Little Green Bee eaters amongst the many.

Prey birds like Eagles, Hawks, Buzzards, Harriers, Falcons and Indian White backed vulture are also to be sighted in the Sanctuary. Some migratory birds make this sanctuary their home at certain times of the year.
