OUR CHURCH

Karnataka is a state in South West India, ranking 8th and 9th by area and population respectively. According to the 2011 census of India, the total population of Karnataka 61,130,704 out of which only 3.1% are Christians. Christianity is a minority religion within Karnataka. The state had a relatively high number of anti-Christian attacks in 2009. In 2008, about 20 churches were allegedly vandalized in Mangalore, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, and in other districts of Karnataka. The Assailants had damaged Catholic Churches and Pentacostal churches. The violence soon spread to Kolar, Dakshina Kannada and damages were reported from the state border of Kasaragod in Kerala.
Mangalore, a district in south western Karnataka, has a city population of 539,387.Mangalore being an education centre of Karnataka, has so many medical, management, and engineering colleges and institutes. We can see thousands of youths and people of different languages and religious sects here.

Mangalore is well known for riots and church attacks, a land in darkness. There are only a few born again believers and lakhs of people are yet to experience salvation.

God gave much burden to Pastor Sajan to reach the youngsters and different religious groups of the city with the Gospel of Jesus. As he searched for a name for his pioneering church God asked to name it Nazareth church.

Now it is one of the growing churches in Mangalore and God is using this church to organize several crusades, youth camps, prayer tours, etc leading many people to the Salvation experience.

Only very few churches in mangalore have their own land and building. The majority of the churches do not have their own land and church building. So they worship in rented buildings facing political and religious issues. Please do pray that the good God would provide own land and building to all the churches in Mangalore.
