About St George's Church in Mainguard Square, Main Nethaji Road, Madurai
St. George's Church located in the heart of the city at Main Gaurd Square was established in 1800 by Rev. Father George Fredrik Fisher (European) . Originally a small building, the church was rebuilt with the passage of time and was consecrated 1881. It is also known as 'Stone Church since it is made of black stones. The graves of Rouse Peter and George Frederick Fisher, zamindar of Salem, are located inside the church.Top categories in Madurai
