About Ram Awatar Gupt Pratibha Puraskar in Sanmarg Bhawan, 160B Chittaranjan Avenue, Kolkata

Sanmarg, literally translating to “the righteous path” is the oldest and most widely read Hindi Daily in Eastern India, having its readership base in West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Orissa. In its 70 years, Sanmarg has lived up to being the fourth pillar of society and with changing times has never compromised on its editorial policy of being true to our nation.

Sanmarg Foundation was established in 2001. Education makes a Man social and complete, and Sanmarg Foundation closely works with the student community. Granting scholarships to deserving students to pursue higher studies, especially in Hindi, is our way of encouraging them to spread the legacy of our Official Language, globally.

To connect to our roots and mother tongue, Sanmarg Foundation established The Ramawatar Gupt Pratibha Puraskar and felicitated students excelling in Hindi.

Envisioned by the Late Shri Ramawatar Gupta, the founder-editor of Sanmarg, Ramawatar Gupt Pratibha Puraskar started in 2006 with seven students and has grown steadily year after year. The ideology behind Ramawatar Gupt Pratibha Puraskar was not awards but to engraft admiration for the nation in today’s student community. This unique award ceremony instils a sense of achievement in the youth for excelling in Hindi.

Today it is an inspiration in itself; thousands of students take pride in their outstanding performance in Hindi. In 2015 the award ceremony boasted of 10,000 plus entries, 250 awards, cash prizes & scholarships worth 10 lacs and a city coming together. We’ve spread our wings to Asansol & Raniganj, with a similar felicitation locally. Now in its 11th year of celebration, we wish to encourage more students, including those from districts, to come forward and participate in our journey celebrating “Hindi.”
