About Little Thespian in Regd. Address: 26, Zakaria Street, Kolkata-73, Kolkata

Little Thespian, the brain child of husband-wife duo S.M. Azhar Alam and Uma Jhunjhunwala, is one of the leading Hindi theatre groups of West Bengal and is committed to work for the cause of theatre. It offers people (audiences) intellectually stimulating and socially relevant plays mounted with artistic skill and professionalism. Over the years with its productions like “Balkan Ki Aurtein”,“Dhokha”, “Kabira Khada Bazar Mein”, “Rengti Parchhiyan” “Alka”, “Gainda”, “Patjhad”, “Shuturmurgh”, “Lohar”, “?” (Sawalia Nishan), “Bade Bhai Sahib”, “Katha Collage Series”, “Yaadon Ke Bujhe Huye Savere”, “Hayavadana” etc. it has begun to be associated with contemporary theatre parameters, breaking barriers and creating a great emotional rendezvous between theatre, actors and audience.

For it believes that theatre should be a thought provoking entertaining art which brings to the forefront the vices of society, forcing people to think up about the solutions to the problems and solving it accordingly to their needs and their circumstances without passing judgments. It does theatre to communicate and raise questions, the cause is social but it does not preach. It just acts as a medium to motivate them to think and act accordingly.

Added to its list of achievements is its publishing of first ever theatre magazine in Urdu, RANG RAS, which is receiving critical acclaim from all over India. It is also very active with the adaptation and translation of plays and stories so that quality literature can reach the common people.

Apart from main stream theatre Little Thespian has three separate wings which takes care of the other forms of theatre:
* Katha Manch: deals with presentation of Story on stage without ‘Dramatization’.
