KARMI SANGHA

Karmi Sangha, a club established in the year 1951 at 98, Nainan Para Lane, Baranagar, Kolkata-700036 outskirt of North Kolkata. Since its foundation the club runs with its remarkable performance for the people and has reached to its tree-top shape, which is happened with the devotion, dedication, strong determination and tireless efforts on the part of local residents.
On the part of Karmi Sangha a special effort had taken to establish a school ‘Siksha Sadan Vidyalay’ in the year 1967. After getting recognization of the State Government the school has been divided in two Units (Primary and Secondary) – a remarkable performance shown by the Karmi Sangha in this regard and we the residents of Baranagar are proud of it.
The organizers of the Club are celebrated the birth anniversary of Rabindra Nath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam and conduct a Cultural Programme where local children do participate in Dance, Recitation, Drama and make the programme unsurpassable success.
Presence of Karmi Sangha for the social activities is also remarkable and for the obvious reason we the member of that Club are proud of it. Karmi Sangha runs a Charitable Dispensary since 1997 to cater to the needs for the poor morbid patients. Reputed Doctors extend their cordial co-operation and provide voluntary service for the poor people and free medicines are also provided. Modern medical equipments like ECG machine, Blood pressure checking machine are also available in the dispensary.

In the recent past on ‘Teachers Day’ i.e. 5th September in the year 2010 Karmi Sangha achieved to have a ‘Hearse Van’ which was inaugurated in recalling the memory of Late Santosh Kumar Ghosh, reputed ex-teacher of Baranagar Rama Krishna Mission Ashram High School by his deserving son Sri Suman Ghosh with valued contribution. In the emergent service column of Ananda Bazar Patrika – a leading daily newspaper, the name of Karmi Sangha is duly cited for the loyal service of its own “Hearse Van”. People of Baranagar, Cossipore, Kamarhati, Belgharia and others part of North Kolkata are benefited a lot for the purpose.
In the summer season Karmi Sangha conduct a “Blood Donation Camp” each year keeping in view to the needs of morbid and Thalassaemia patients. At least 200 blood donors donate their blood for the sake of saving life of poor people.
Karmi Sangha organizes Annual Sports and Dance Competition in winter season and also launches Sit & Draw Competition where more than 500 participants are used to participate.
Sarodiya Durgotsav are organized by Karmi Sangha which is one of the glorious and popular pujas in North Kolkata and already has taken place its reputation in the daily newspapers like Ananda Bazar Partika, Aajkal, Pratidin, Bartaman etc and also in electronic media like ABP Ananda, 24 Ghanta etc. During puja on the day of Maha Astami “Mahabhog” are distributed irrespective castes, religion to the people assembled in puja pandal. In such a way the club has been maintaining integrity amongst the people. On the very next day of Bijaya Dashami in puja pandal a group of women with vermillion streaked faces get into ‘Bhasan’ groove to the beats of Dhak.
In fine, it is to be mentioned that since foundation Karmi Sangha had performed for the benefit of people and will enhance its performance in future for the people with its strong footsteps.
