Bhattacharya's School of Universal Music has been established by Indian Classical Slide Guitar Maestro Pt. Debashish Bhattacharya, the worthy disciple of Pandit Brij Bhushan Kabra, a world famous Indain Classical Slide Guitarist, a successful artiste, composer, teacher and performer in the field of Hindustani Shashtriya Sangeet.
In India, there is no syllabus available, which is specially written for the training of Indian classical Guitar. Recognizing the abundance of talent in India, Pandiji has written a syllabus, the first of its kind, on Indian Classical Guitar. The syllabus has six grades.

The success of this syllabus has already been demonstrated by many of his students. Three of them have received National Scholarships of Music and three others, as 'A' grade artistes of Prasar Bharati, are performing classical Guitar from different parts of India. One of them has won national music competition award. Students from abroad have also benefited as a result of the syllabus.

The most beautiful invention of Pt. Debashish Bhattacharya is to create TRINITY OF SLIDE GUITARS named as CHATURANGUI, GANDHARVI, and ANANDI. These instruments have opened a new world to the guitarists of the world as well as brought a much bigger vision of Indian classical music and it’s presentation.

The school is a non-profit government registered organization which constantly works to support Indian Classical music, and works in restoration the Indian Raga music among Youth.

Panditji is a pathfinder in accepting challenges in exploring new happenings in India and world through his creation. He has been the gate way of the world to India as well Indians to the world for decades.

His unparallel and unique work has brought light in the darkness of many disciples.

Specially he has created an unique style of Guitar Playing imbibing nuances of all the gharanas, making a bridge between old and new.

The two other wings of the school:

1. Voice Training: Panditji himself trains the voice is in charge of this wing.
2. Tabla Training: Subhasis Bhattacharya, the world-renowned tabla and percussion artiste, is in charge of this part of the school. His innovative performances and his charming personality attract many students. Subhasis takes care of the rhythm section and teaches Tabla.
