Durga Puja ("Worship of Durga"), also referred to as Durgotsava ("Festival of Durga") or Sharadotsav is an annual Hindu festival in South Asia that celebrates worship of the Hindu goddess Durga. Durga Puja in Kolkata is often referred to as the Rio Carnival of the Eastern Hemisphere which is also the biggest open art gallery of the world. Thousands of Pandals are made every year in or around Kolkata to celebrate the legendary heritage and culture of Kolkata. Between those thousands of Pandals made every year standing tall among them since the year 2010 is North Kolkata’s Srestho Puja TALA BAROWARI itself. The journey got a pumped up start when the famous theme maker “Amar Sarkar” joined us, he started his actual theme Puja in our locality from the year 2009. In 2010 the theme named “KOI PAKHI AKAASH E” was and will be one of the greatest Milestone ever achieved in Kolkata’s Durga Puja history. In the year 2015 our theme “HYBRIDASUROMORDINI” was another mind boggling theme which again stunned the pujo pagol pandal hoppers, and again earned us to win the “Asian Paints Sharad Shamman” for “SHERA PROTIMA SHILPO” and this award was followed by many well known awards as “BISWA BANGLA” , “MP BIRLA”, “KOLKATA SHREE”, “ANANDABAZAR SHARAD ARGHYA”, etc. By this achievement TALA BAROWARI decides to step into an ultimate trend of “Social Awareness” presenting it through numerous innovative ideas mixed with India’s rich culture and art which therefore helped us to achieve the all time greatest award "Asian Paints Sharad Shamman" again which was started in 1985 as a means for awarding the best decorated puja pandal during Durga Puja in Kolkata in the year 2013. A row of prizes followed with that, some of which are “Sharad Arghya”, “MP Birla”, “Berger Priyo Pujo”, and many more galloping up to a total of about 200+ prizes all over the years. Coming to our captain “Subrata Banerjee” who is recognized as the most eminent craft artist and theme maker of the city.
