Kadakkavur, is a developing small town located in Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala. This commercial and residential area is situated about 32 km north of its district main city Thiruvananthapuram and about 33 km South of Kollam. Kadakkavoor is surrounded Attingal (5 km) to the east, Anchuthengu (1.5 km) to the west, Vakkom (1 km) to the north and Chirayinkeezhu (4 km) to the south. This place is about 1 km from Nilakkamukku, about 2.5 km from Mananakku and about 7.5 km from Varkala.

Numerous temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva are seen in this village. The village is emerging as a town now.

Kadakavur Railway Station is an important station between Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. Thiruvananthapuram International Airport is the nearest airport.

This the birth place of the nostalgic singer Brahmaanandan (Brahmanandan sang very few songs, but just about every one of them became a hit. A disciple of Kadakkavur Sundaram Bhagavathar and D. K. Vakkom is located in Thiruvananthapuram District and is near Kadakkavur. It is about 10 km from Attingal. Vakkom is the birth place of Vakkom Moulavi, one of the greatest renaissance leaders of Kerala. Vakkom Purushothaman, the former speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly, was also born here. Sarkara Devi Temple and Varkala Beach (8.5 km) are points of interest nearby.

Attingal Bus Station is the nearest bus station. Kadakkavur Railway Station (1 km) and Trivandrum International Airport (30 km) serve this area. It is about 8 km off the National Highway 47 and 2 km off the Varkala-Kadakavur road.
