About National Reporting Centre for Ophthalmic Pathology in , Hyderabad

The National Reporting Centre at CFS Hyderabad is designed specifically to serve as a referral centre for Ophthalmic Pathology. In keeping with the CFS's tradition of Excellence, it provides timely and critical support in processing and reporting ocular tissues.

NRCOP is led by an expert ophthalmic pathologist and backed up by a panel of expert, international ophthalmic pathologists across the globe.
The scope of the laboratory is not limited to eyelid, ocular surface, intraocular and orbital tumors; it includes diagnostics for all the ocular tissues including cornea, retina, vitreous, conjunctiva etc. Accurate histopathological categorization of corneal dystrophies is one of our areas of interest.

Additionally, facility for rapid diagnosis including frozen section and intra-operative cytology is also available for the local surgeons to help them decide and modify their management plan on the go.

The laboratory also provides immunohistochemistry, immunoflourescence, electron microscopy, flow cytometry and molecular diagnostic testing for academic and diagnostic interests.

Tumors will be reported using the latest AJCC protocols and standard data sets of the Royal College of Pathologists, incorporating the evidence-based and essential prognostic factors and pathologic staging. In addition, a clinical oncologist's opinion shall be incorporated into the report whenever required.

Photomicrograph facilities for academic, research and publication purposes will be available on request.

Examination of animal tissue and large scale processing for experimental studies/thesis would be possible.
