HISTORY
1964:Commissioned on 29-03-1964 with bed strength of 150 beds.
1969:Bed strength increased to 210 beds.
1976:Bed strength increased to 310 beds with additional 24 beds for T.B. patients at
Government Chest Hospital, Erragadda, Hyderabad opposite to this hospital.
1978 :Till 1978 this hospital was part of Gandhi Medical College& after the formation
of Insurance Medical Services was brought under IMS.
2010: Bed strength increased to 500 beds.

The ESI beneficiaries attached are 9, 00,000 covering more than 15,000 Establishments. It is the largest Non Teaching Hospital in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh &in E.S.I. scheme in the state. The dispensaries attached are 50 covering 5 districts of Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Nalgonda, Medak & Mahaboobnagar.It is the referral Center to all the other E.S.I institutions in the state.

•Daily approximately 1300 to 1500 new patients attend the Out Patient departments. Computerized registration facilities with 8 systems are made available for quick registration.
•Registration timings are from 8-30A.M. to 1.30P.M.
•For patients who cannot wait facilities are made available to register at Casualty department also.

EMERGENCY SERVICES:
Emergency services available – 24 x 7 - 365 days.

Emergency Services are provided through Casualty Department.
From 8.00 AM to 2.00 PM - Casualty department is managed by 3 Medical Officers.
From 2.00 PM to next day 8.00AM - 7 Medical Officers are on duty, one from each speciality.
All the Civil Surgeon Specialists are available 24 x 7 to guide the Duty Medical Officers in patient care.

Round the clock OT, Labor room & Diagnostic services like Laboratory, X-ray and Ambulance Services are available. For cases requiring Super Speciality Treatment emergency referral facilities are available with tie up Hospitals.

OTHER SERVICES AVAILABLE:
Lab services are provided through state of the art equipment consisting of SIEMENS DIMENSION X PAND & MINDRAY FULLY AUTOMATIC ANALYSER.
Phaco emulsification surgeries for Cataracts have started for IPs and dependents.
Free Spectacles, Dentures, Hearing Aids, Calipers, etc are supplied to IPs and their family members.
More than 600 Chronic Kidney Disease Patients are attached to this hospital.
About 200 cancer patients receiving Radio Therapy / Chemotherapy, referred from this hospital to tie – up hospitals.
All the National Health Programmes are implemented in this hospital.

Glaucoma Center and Vitreo Retinal services in Ophthalmology are also available in this hospital.


The ESI Hospital Sanathnagar is in close collaboration with the following National Programs:
Maternity & Child Health services with Medical & Family welfare department of Andhra Pradesh Government through Urban Health Center (UHC).
Leprosy- through National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP).
TB –through DOTS center located at Govt.General Hospital Erragadda Hyderabad as a part of revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP).
Ophthalmology department is associated with National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB).
HIV & AIDS care and support center through National Aids Control Organisation (NACO).
Diet to the patients is provided through a Dietician / contractor as per the norms prescribed by the Government.
Every month review meetings are conducted with the hospital staff on every 1st Wednesday and on 2nd Wednesday with the Joint Director and the IMOs of the attached dispensaries to improve the functioning of the hospital.
All the staff members who are at risk are immunized against Hepatitis B.
