Art Director – Ashok Koralath also known as Ashok Kumar, is one of the top art directors of the Indian film Industry. A large portion of his works originate from the steadily booming Telugu film industry. But, he worked for the Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam film industries as well.

He brought fame to Art Directors by turning into a star figure by creating a replica of the 400 year old heritage monumnet - Charminar and the Old Hyderabad City neighborhood in the Telugu motion picture "Okkadu".

He has also created fantasy sets for the astounding thriller film "Arundhathi". As of late his Art Direction for the film Dhamarukam was positively criticized as adding value to the film. From among 148 movies he had worked upon, 120 are from Telugu film industry. A lot of them have won numerous national and state awards.

He worked for 8 Tamil, 7 Malayalam and 5 Kannada movies also. He helped design the sets of 8 Hindi films as well. He started his career as an art director and creator of advertisements.

He also received wide acclaim for the sensational sets for he created on several reverential occasions such as Srinivasa Kalyanam celebrated at Ongole and other chronicled mythological occasions such as the celebration of 500 years of King Sri Krishna Devaraya’s Coronation which was held at Lalitha Kala Thoranam, Hyderabad, Chandragiri and Penugonda.

"An art director can give every movie a certain feel just like the background music. 'A good cinematographer - Art director' team can take a movie look from 'amazing' to 'that's just beyond belief' if they work well together", he says when he spoke with his social media management team. He also said "Thota Tharani had Maniratnam and Sabu Cyril had Priyadarshan. Maybe it was my formal training in painting that had made the use of colors as my trademark. To be a good art director, you need engineering, technical and artisitic skills and above all, the skill to expand upon even a minute idea".
