At Gray Matters India (GMI), we aspire to transform the quality of school education through data-driven school assessment and evidence based analytics. We recognize the value of private schools and their role in providing education to majority of the students in the country. However with regulatory authorities primarily using input metrics as indicators of quality, there are still huge differences in quality between schools. .

In running a school, the school management is in a reactive mode and rarely has the time to evaluate what they are doing right or wrong. There is even lesser understanding of root causes and implementing solutions that go beyond a short term fix. We believe that schools cannot properly progress and prepare for the future without a deep understanding of where they stand in the present. Just as many of the Fortune 500 companies use objective data and research to inform their business decisions, schools can use a similar data-based approach to improve their quality in a market driven and sustainable manner.

We provide school leaders with unbiased metrics to measure their school’s performance. Our school assessments take a holistic approach looking at a variety of factors such as learning outcomes, teacher observations, school management, infrastructure audit, and parent surveys. Based on the analysis, specific actions are planned for the school to implement. We monitor the implementation of the recommended actions to ensure that a school can make meaningful investments that truly transform the school and take it to the next level.
