About St. Francis College for Women in Begumpet, Hyderabad

The college is housed in an impressive 8-acre campus in the heart of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. From a student strength of 15 in 1959, the college has grown into a prestigious institution with a student force of 2,400 and a faculty strength of 110 teaching and 80 non-teaching, offering Graduate and select Post Graduate, Diploma and Certificate Courses.

Autonomy was conferred on the college by the UGC in 1988. Since then the college has proved to be a trendsetter in academic development with a commitment to a value system and qualitative self-improvement. Accredited with 5 stars by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) in the year 1999 and Reaccredited at the ‘A’ Level in the year 2006, it is the first autonomous college in the twin cities, affiliated to Osmania University, Andhra Pradesh. The University Grants Commission has identified the college as a ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ in the year 2004.

The College has introduced Choice and Credit Based Semester System in the year 2005 as a positive step towards achieving parity with educational institutions elsewhere in the world. In keeping with the changing trends in the field of education at the global scenario, the college has also introduced Inter Disciplinary Electives (IDE) as an integral part of choice and Credit Based Semester System from June 2006.
