This idea of 'nurturing' took shape of the grass root organization called Aalambana.

About AALAMBANA
Aalambana is a non-profit, charity organization, aiming at supporting the betterment of helpless sections, children, women and the old-aged and the disadvantaged. Started in October 2001, Aalambana is situated in Kukatpally, Asia's biggest urban colony in the suburbs of Hyderabad, India. Aalambana is working relentlessly to provide basic care and education to the deprived children in the slums and ghettos of this huge urban colony. Everyday, there is an onslaught of more and more migrants from villages, due to various structural changes. This migration for a better living is depriving children of their support systems, as the dream of better living stays unattained.


AIM
Our aim is to make every disadvantaged individual self-reliant, creating a society of independent people living with dignity.

Mission
Our mission is to provide grass root safety nets in society to cope with the rapid urbanisation of society and the problems 'urbanisation' encompasses. Aalambana endeavours to make this world a better place to live in by providing these safety nets to children and complementing with various support systems to the needy.

WHAT WE DO AT AALAMBANA?
Child Care
The costs to society of failing its children are huge. Children's earliest experiences - within the family and with other caregivers - significantly influence the future course of their development. The way in which children develop determines whether they will make a net contribution - or pose a huge cost - to society over the course of their lives
Aalambana endeavors to provide these children basic human rights such as the right to education. It sees to it that these children too get a right chance of upbringing by providing at least some of the facilities, that children from normal families do possess. Many of these children's childhood are spent in dangerous and mundane works. These situations do not give them a chance to receive knowledge and experience from the society. We believe that human potential is immense and we will try our best to get the maximum potential out of every child, so that his/her contribution to the society can be reckoned with.

Counseling
Though our primary focus is on children, we found that this work has to be complemented with a focus on woman up-liftment and education. Many children do get parental care, but many of them do not get right education, as the mother is not educated. If a woman is educated, an entire generation of that family gets educated. Aalambana, as an organization do help woman to educate herself and thereby rear her whole family properly.
Many women are mired in a plethora of problems both at home and in the society. Women are being awarded lower status in society and family. This situation pushes them to a corner, where their voices go unheard both at home and in society. She bears the responsibility of her children upbringing. Given this inferior status, some women do find difficulties in nurturing her children. Aalambana gives confidence to these women to assert themselves and their rights for a better future for her and her children.
