The Western Ghats are filled with hiking trails. Some weave their way through the thick of the forest, filled with gurgling streams and intimate waterfalls that attract a bevy of colourful bugs and frogs (watch out for leeches though). Others ascend quickly past the forest of trees to the smooth grass-topped peaks. These hikes are relatively tough, but the feeling of the wind whipping through your hair and the clouds at your feet is well worth the effort. Off-roading in Parisara takes you through the banks of a river, the loose gravel beyond a hair-pin bend, mud-gurgling slush, grass and a strange breed of tar roads, wet and ridden with potholes full of brown rain water. You will also pass many waterfalls; there is even a point where one of them spills onto the road as it tumbles down. So for the first time, in Sakleshpur you will have the chance of off-roading through a waterfall, literally!
Whether it is the rough ride of Murkan Gudda, swimming in the man-made lake or the breathtaking panoramas from Kallu Gudda - you can explore an endless range of hills and valleys while off-roading in Sakleshpur. The terrain is typical of the Western Ghats and presents an exciting challenge for beginners as well as advanced off-roaders.
While you can do your own exploring, there are tracks that have already been identified. One such track leads you right to the top of Murkan Gudda and is six kilometers long;this one would require a fair degree of skill and experience on the part of the driver.
