Milaan runs the following core programs in the area of education in rural Uttar Pradesh with special focus on girl child and school dropouts.

1. Swarachna Learning and Resource Center:- In 2007, Milaan initiated the “Swarachna Learning and Resource Center” in a remote, rural village named Kantain in Sitapur District, Uttar Pradesh. The centre currently provides education to around 350 children. It is the first and only senior secondary school in 13 villages in Sidhauli Block of Sitapur District. The center, acting as a creative learning space introduces the young people of the area to the larger world, by means of books, magazines, critically selected movies as well as documentaries and then encourages discussions, debates and exploration of these new ideas.

2. Swabhiman:- Swabhiman empowers girls to lead a life of independence and dignity. It is a program for girls who have dropped out of school after 5th and above, to help them return to school and clear class 10th exams. In 2010, the program was extended to include scholarships for high performing girls.

3. Mid day Meal:- The mid-day meal programme provides the 300+ children studying at the Swarachna Learning and Resource Centre a complete meal as part of their daily routine during the school day. The one instant and visible impact of this program has been that the incentive of a full belly keeps the children coming back to the school everyday which means that they regularly attend classes which in turn has a direct impact on their grades. It has also improved their health, allowing them to avoid falling ill thereby being able to attend school still more regularly.

4. Natpurwa Project:- Natpurwa is a village that is known primarily for prostitution. The women of the village are brought upto be prostitutes and the men act as pimps. One woman from among them decided to raise her voice on behalf of the children of the village to save them from the same fate and give them a chance at a better future.
Milaan is actively involved in helping them build a base of operations, a centre where they can educate the children that can also double up as a place for gatherings and meetings in an effort towards ensuring a better future for the girls of Natpurwa.
