IRIIS believes that the Indian experience has defied many of the existing beliefs and theories in social sciences. Being a land of complex multi-pluralities, India has challenged the dominant discourses and offered meaningful alternatives in terms of new and innovative forms of practice to politics, economics and social issues and questions of our times. Furthermore, India’s material capabilities, institutional strengths and knowledge structures promise to attain an increasing conceptual and analytical salience in the ongoing changes in the global order.

IRIIS hopes to develop a body of innovative and inter-disciplinary research anchored in frontier conceptualizations but informed by the Indian empirical reality.

IRIIS aims to act as a forum for a dialogue amongst various sections of the society including academia, government, civil society and corporate actors in the pursuit of more informed policy choices.
