Presidium as an institution, and Model United Nations as an activity are geared towards one endeavour, to create future leaders who will be at the helm of action in the coming decades. We need them and the world needs them. The world today is fraught with issues, conflicts, man against man, religion against religion, culture against culture and ideas against ideas. How can one even begin to disentangle this knot?

At the root of this strong tree that will hold the world together, we envision our future leaders in positions of power and decision-making. At Presidium Model United Nations Conference 2016, the participants shall begin their journey to don that mantle of leadership with a simple, yet most effective solution – learning. Learning is the key to understanding, an understanding of issues that the world is assailed by, and understanding problems from their causes to the current crises. To develop this spirit and atmosphere of learning, the central theme of PMUN 2016 is Presidium for Environment.

Environment is at the root of our identity, our thoughts and our actions. It is also our future. What we are doing today is pushing the world to the brink of disaster. Climatic shifts due to carbon emissions are creating hazards that our next generation will have to suffer. Wars and conflicts are being fought over natural resources that no one owns, but every country wants to control. Due to actions thousands of miles away, our icebergs are melting and rising sea levels threaten to obliterate entire countries and coastal communities within years. We feel the tremors of earthquakes and feel the wrath of tsunamis and cyclones that devastate livelihoods and entire populations. Even within the cocoon of cities, our children suffocate due to the air clogged with pollution, let alone those who are displaced and left to live the rest of their lives in darkness in refugee camps and tents. The world is not safe, and we must take action to mitigate these dangers and prevent them from worsening.

PMUN 2016 is a three day conference simulating 11committees such as Gulf Cooperation Council, Supreme Court of United States of America (SCO TUS), UN Global Compact. It will have over 400 delegates participating from National and International schools.
