About Casa Serendip Homestay Goa in House No 321, Pinto Waddo, Canca Anjuna Rd., Canca Parra, Goa

About Casa Canca :

Casa Serendip is an idyllic & tranquil homestay located in the verdant village of Canca-Verla, adjacent to Parra. It is situated on the grounds of a historic Portuguese villa, which has been dated from 1452 A.D. The house has seen as many as half a dozen bishops reside here as well as the Pinto-Braganza family, the current owners, after whom the village and vaddo (village district) are named. The Cottages are a new addition to the property and are built around many gorgeous trees on the property like mango, palm, breadfruit, banana, chickoo, & bamboo.Every cottage has its own unique style and individual personality. All the furniture in the rooms and around the garden was made out from up cycled wood found on the property. The gardens are blissfully shaded throughout the day. One gets to see so many varieties of birds that stop by to drink at our birdbaths or tweet in our fruit trees. Loads of Butterflies and other exotic insects make our gardens their home and sometimes fireflies grace our rooms. We often have Langur monkeys, civet cats, squirrels and mongooses that visit us at night. The cottages are located in the garden behind the house, so it’s a fair distance from the road.

Around the Homestay:

Though Parra, Canca and Verla villages are clubbed together into a single parish, the area has two separate panchayats and three Comunidades (Parish Community). The caju (Cashew) covered hills hedge the North-West from Assagao, Anjuna and Arpora in an emerald semi-circle. Otherwise Parra shares borders with Mapusa, Guirim and Nagoa. The undulating topography dissolves in the vast, fertile sandy plains, and sprawls over 3.5 square kilometres of picturesque countryside. One can't leave the village without visiting its monumental landmark, the church of St Anne built in 1649. The church has beautiful murals done on its vast ceiling and was notably attacked by the forces of King Sambhaji while the Luso-Maratha war was on in 1683.A short ride to the north is Mapusa city with its historical, cultural and religious site and teeming market which is a must for shopping local delicacies and curios. Assagao and Arpora have many Holistic healing centres and Spas offering many a range of healing techniques like Yoga, Watsu, Accupunture, Massage & ayurvedic Therapies. Anjuna & Vagator to the west are world famous for nightlife & parties and Ashvem & Morjim Beaches are close enough to explore...

How to get here:

From the Airport you will be driving North on NH-17 to Mapusa City. Take the left exit to Guirim which is just Before Hotel Green Park.
